I’m staying in a cabin. Is bedding provided? 

No, you will need to provide your own bedding, towels, toiletries and medications. 

 

I’m considering coming up early, what is there to do on Friday afternoon? 

For those who arrive before check in at 5:30pm on Friday afternoon there are a variety of activities available. The waterfront and barn will be open from 2-6pm, and the Camp Store will be operational from 5-6:30pm. This is also the perfect time to go for a bike ride or take a walk around Lake Shellenbarger. 

   

What is the dress code on Sabbath? 

Sabbath is very casual at Camp. We will have church out of doors (weather permitting) so please dress appropriately for worship in the woods!

 

I love nature, and I’d like to take my family canoeing on Sabbath.  May I?

Water activities are reserved for Friday, Sunday and Monday only.   

 

My family and I are bringing bikes. Do we have to wear helmets? 

Yes, anyone riding a bike MUST wear a helmet at all times. 

 

My family and I are planning to go horseback riding. Are there any age limits or clothing restrictions? 

Yes, you must be at least 8 years old to go horseback riding. Younger children may be led around the ring on a pony but will not be able to participate in trail rides. Anyone planning to horseback ride should wear long pants and closed toe shoes. 

 

What does the meal plan include? 

The meal plan includes 8 full meals (Friday night - Monday morning) and two ice cream socials with popcorn. 

 

Can people join me and my family for a single meal? 

Yes, but arrangements need to be made with the person in charge of the weekend finances and payment made in advance.

 

I’m planning to leave early/miss a meal. Do I have to pay for the entire

meal plan? 

Yes.  There is no refund available on the meal package. 

 

Can guests from outside of District Nine come? 

Yes.  As long as lodging is available, guests of District 9 members are welcome. 

 

I am hoping to fish. What kind of restrictions are present? 

We welcome those wanting to fish on Lake Shellenbarger or the Au Sable River so long as you catch and release. Michigan fishing laws apply. 

 

Who cleans Camp once the weekend is over? 

You! All campers are expected to pitch in and help with the chores at the end of the weekend.
